Doctrinal Statement
Introduction:
We hold the Bible to be the inerrant and authoritative Word of God, fully inspired and sufficient for all matters of faith and practice. While our beliefs are firmly rooted in Scripture, we also identify with the Baptist Faith & Message(2000) and the New Hampshire Confession (1833)
A Short Summary
-
There is one God, eternal and almighty, revealed in three distinct persons:
The Father – The Father is eternal, all-knowing, all-powerful, perfectly holy, and sovereign over all creation and history.
The Son – The Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, taught with authority, died on the cross in the place of sinners, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven where He reigns as Lord of all.
The Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit is sent by the Father and the Son to glorify Christ, regenerate sinners, indwell believers, convict of sin, empower godly living, and preserve believers until the day of redemption. -
God has revealed Himself in the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments alone, fully inspired, authoritative, and without error in all that it teaches.
-
As a result of the fall of our first parents, every aspect of human nature has been corrupted. All people are spiritually dead, guilty sinners, and hostile to God. Everyone is under God’s just condemnation and needs to be born again, forgiven, and reconciled to God.
-
Regeneration, or the new birth, is a sovereign work of the Holy Spirit by which God transforms sinners, giving them new spiritual life, a renewed heart, and a willing mind to repent and believe in Christ. It is entirely by God’s grace and not dependent on human effort, marking the beginning of a life of faith and obedience.
-
Salvation is entirely a work of God’s grace and cannot be earned or deserved. It has been accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ and is offered to all in the gospel. God forgives sinners whom He calls, granting them repentance and faith. All who believe in Christ are justified by faith alone, adopted into God’s family, and receive eternal life.
-
The universal Church is the body of which Christ is the head and to which all who are saved belong.
-
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper were given to the churches by Christ as visible signs of the gospel.
-
The Lord Jesus Christ will return in glory. He will raise the dead and judge the world in righteousness. The wicked will face eternal punishment, and the righteous will enjoy eternal joy in fellowship with God.
